چکیده

Phytophthora spp. secrete vast arrays of effector molecules during infection to aid in host colonization. The crinkling and necrosis (CRN) protein family forms an extensive repertoire candidate effectors that accumulate the nucleus perturb processes required for immunity. Here, we show CRN12_997 from capsici binds a TCP transcription factor, SlTCP14-2, inhibit its immunity-associated activity against Coimmunoprecipitation bimolecular fluorescence complementation studies confirm specific CRN12_997-SlTCP14-2 interaction vivo. Coexpression specifically counteracts TCP14-enhanced immunity phenotype, suggesting CRN mediated perturbation SlTCP14-2 function. We associates with nuclear chromatin diminishes DNA binding. Collectively, our data support model which enhance between reduces binding immune regulator. propose modulation affinity, caused by CRN12-997, enhances susceptibility P. capsici. A conserved oomycete CRN effector targets and modulates tomato TCP14-2 to enhance virulence

Phytophthora spp. secrete vast arrays of effector molecules upon infection. A main class of intracellular effectors are the CRNs. They are translocated into the host cell and specifically localise to the nucleus where they are thought to perturb many different cellular processes. Although CRN proteins have been implicated as effectors, direct evidence of CRN mediated perturbation of host proces...

An Oomycete CRN Effector Reprograms Expression of Plant HSP Genes by Targeting their Promoters

Oomycete pathogens produce a large number of CRN effectors to manipulate plant immune responses and promote infection. However, their functional mechanisms are largely unknown. Here, we identified a Phytophthora sojae CRN effector PsCRN108 which contains a putative DNA-binding helix-hairpin-helix (HhH) motif and acts in the plant cell nucleus. Silencing of the PsCRN108 gene reduced P. sojae vir...

Pseudomonas syringae Type III Effector HopBB1 Promotes Host Transcriptional Repressor Degradation to Regulate Phytohormone Responses and Virulence.

Independently evolved pathogen effectors from three branches of life (ascomycete, eubacteria, and oomycete) converge onto the Arabidopsis TCP14 transcription factor to manipulate host defense. However, the mechanistic basis for defense control via TCP14 regulation is unknown. We demonstrate that TCP14 regulates the plant immune system by transcriptionally repressing a subset of the jasmonic aci...

An Aphid Effector Targets Trafficking Protein VPS52 in a Host-Specific Manner to Promote Virulence.

Plant- and animal-feeding insects secrete saliva inside their hosts, containing effectors, which may promote nutrient release and suppress immunity. Although for plant pathogenic microbes it is well established that effectors target host proteins to modulate host cell processes and promote disease, the host cell targets of herbivorous insects remain elusive. Here, we show that the existing plan...

A Virulence Essential CRN Effector of Phytophthora capsici Suppresses Host Defense and Induces Cell Death in Plant Nucleus

Phytophthora capsici is a soil-borne plant pathogen with a wide range of hosts. The pathogen secretes a large array of effectors during infection of host plants, including Crinkler (CRN) effectors. However, it remains largely unknown on the roles of these effectors in virulence especially in P. capsici. In this study, we identified a cell death-inducing CRN effector PcCRN4 using agroinfiltratio...
